Overheads Mixing Guide

IN LOGIC PRO

EQ, Compression, and Metering

EQ Targets

  • Filter only what the arrangement does not need.
  • Cut boxiness, harshness, or mud when you actually hear it.
  • Boost for a musical reason, not to make the track louder.

Compression Starting Points

  • Compression is optional; use gentle control only if cymbals or kit image need cohesion.
  • Avoid pumping cymbals.
  • EQ, phase alignment, and level often matter more than compression.

Metering Targets

  • Leave headroom before buses
  • Watch low-end buildup
  • Prioritize Kit balance clarity in context
