Bass Guitar Mixing

IN LOGIC PRO

EQ, Compression, and Metering

EQ Targets

  • Filter only what the arrangement does not need.
  • Cut boxiness, harshness, or mud when you actually hear it.
  • Boost for a musical reason, not to make the track louder.

Compression Starting Points

  • Leveling: 3:1 to 6:1, medium attack/release, around 3-6 dB gain reduction if notes jump around.
  • Use faster attack only when peaks hit too hard.
  • Parallel compression and saturation can add sustain/density without flattening the DI.

Metering Targets

  • Leave headroom before buses
  • Watch low-end buildup
  • Prioritize Low-end clarity in context
